India Bans 16 Pakistani Channels on YouTube Over Post-Pahalgam Misinformation

In response to escalating concerns over misinformation campaigns, India has banned 16 YouTube channels based in Pakistan that were found circulating communal and sensitive content after the Pahalgam terror attack.

The action, endorsed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, comes shortly after the attack near Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow, which resulted in 26 civilian casualties and marked one of Jammu and Kashmir’s deadliest incidents since 2019.

Investigations led by senior officials of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) are ongoing, with intensive witness interviews and evidence collection underway. Simultaneously, the Indian Army has ramped up search operations in the region, aiming to neutralize threats stemming from the incident.

The move to curb digital misinformation reflects a broader strategy to ensure national security and social harmony in the wake of escalating tensions with Pakistan.
