In a groundbreaking achievement, Lovely Professional University (LPU), India, has outperformed some of the world’s most prestigious educational institutions in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI)-2023. LPU was ranked higher than globally renowned universities including Harvard, Oxford, Cornell, and Pennsylvania, placing within the global band of 101-200 universities.
In the specific category of ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution,’ LPU secured the 12th position, surpassing Harvard and Oxford who stood at the 23rd and 37th positions respectively. This ranking places LPU ahead of universities not only in the US but also those in the UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, China, Korea, and Sweden.
The WURI-2023 evaluated a total of 423 universities worldwide, ranking them based on their innovation capabilities. The assessment process used an AI-based evaluation methodology, concentrating on key aspects such as industrial application, value-creating startups and entrepreneurship, social responsibility, student mobility and collaboration, crisis management, and progression during the Fourth Industrial Revolution through the use of digital technology and artificial intelligence.
Chancellor Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal expressed immense pride in this global recognition, attributing the university’s success to the combined efforts of the entire LPU community.“This ranking has enthralled us immensely, while pulsing that day is soon to be seen when India will once again dominate the education world across the globe,” said Mittal.
