PGI Chandigarh Deploys Drone to Transport Organs, Cutting Travel Time Drastically

The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in Chandigarh has introduced a drone to facilitate the transportation of organs from nearby states such as Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. This innovative approach is expected to revolutionize medical logistics in the region.

The drone, weighing 18 kg, can carry a load of up to 5 kg and is equipped with satellite navigation technology. It can fly up to 100 km on a single charge and reach an altitude of 4,000 feet, similar to aircraft. This advancement will significantly reduce travel time for organ transport, enhancing the efficiency of critical healthcare services.
