Defamation Case Against Singer Kaka: In a dramatic turn of events, Pinky Dhaliwal’s company, Sky Digital Pvt Ltd, has filed a defamation lawsuit against popular singer Kaka. The company has sought damages of Rs 10 crore, accusing Kaka and his label of breaching their contractual obligations and making defamatory statements that have tarnished the company’s reputation.
The legal dispute follows a complaint filed earlier by Kaka, leading to the defamation suit from Sky Digital Pvt Ltd. According to the company, a three-year distribution agreement was signed on September 9, 2021, between Sky Digital Pvt Ltd and Kaka’s label. The contract terms stipulated that Kaka and his team were obligated to provide 18 deliverables, or songs, over the contract period—six songs per year. However, the company claims that Kaka and his label have only delivered eight songs to date, breaching the agreement.
Sky Digital Pvt Ltd contends that despite this failure to meet contractual requirements, Kaka and his team have been making defamatory remarks that have negatively impacted the company’s business operations and public image. The company asserts that it has already made a payment of Rs 3,70,27,937 as part of the agreed payment, and it is still ready and willing to honor the remaining terms of the contract by making the balance payment.
In addition to the defamation claims, the plaintiff highlighted that Kaka had released two songs through a third-party defendant after issuing a termination notice that ended the agreement between the two parties. Sky Digital Pvt Ltd believes that this action was made in violation of the contract.

After hearing the case, the court in Mohali has imposed a significant interim order. It has directed that Kaka and his label be restrained from releasing any new songs or music to any third party in contravention of the agreement until the next hearing, scheduled for April 3, 2025. This order effectively halts any further work by Kaka that might breach the terms of the contract.
The defamation case filed by Sky Digital Pvt Ltd has added a new layer of complexity to the ongoing legal saga between the parties. As the matter progresses, all eyes will be on the next hearing in early April to see how the court handles the case and whether the business relationship between Kaka and the company can be salvaged or if further legal action will follow.
This legal clash underscores the importance of clear and enforceable contracts in the music industry, where disputes over deliverables, payments, and public statements can quickly escalate into high-profile courtroom battles.
