LUDHIANA – In response to the tragic gas leak incident in Giaspura, Ludhiana district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased and injured. The Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and said that he is saddened by the unfortunate event.
The gas leak, which occurred on Sunday, has claimed 11 lives so far and caused 10 others to faint. Those affected have been admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Following the incident, the police administration arrived at the scene and sealed off the entire area to ensure public safety.
To aid the families affected by the tragedy, PM Modi announced an ex-gratia grant of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Additionally, Rs 50,000 will be given to each of the injured as financial assistance.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also expressed his sorrow over the gas leak incident in a tweet, stating, “The incident of a gas leak in the factory in the Giaspura area of Ludhiana is very sad. Police, government and NDRF teams are present at the spot. All possible help is being extended to the affected. Rest details soon.”
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with local authorities, is working diligently to investigate the cause of the leak and ensure all necessary measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
