Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. For this, he reached Shah’s residence at around 3:50 pm and left with his convoy after meeting for about 40 minutes. According to the information, he discussed with the Home Minister many issues including drones coming from Pakistan and drug smuggling and many more. There was a discussion between the two leaders regarding coordination between central and state agencies to further strengthen the border security adjacent to Punjab.
The Union Home Minister appreciated the efforts of the state government in curbing crime and maintaining peace in the region. He assured the Chief Minister of all possible assistance from the central government in dealing with any security challenge in the state.
The meeting assumes significance in the wake of recent incidents of violence in the state, including the murder of a former Akali leader in broad daylight in Amritsar, and the killing of two Punjab police personnel in a shootout in Ludhiana.The state government has come under severe criticism from various quarters for its failure to control the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
