Punjab Police IG reveals details of Amritpal Singh’s escape from custody

In a press conference held on Monday, Punjab Police Inspector General Sukhchain Singh Gill revealed details of the escape of Amritpal Singh, who had been in police custody in connection with a high-profile case. According to the IG, Singh managed to change his disguise and escape on a motorcycle from Nangal Ambia, where he had been brought for a court hearing.

The incident took place on Sunday when Singh was being taken from the Nabha jail to the court in Nangal Ambia. As per the police’s account, Singh managed to free himself from the handcuffs and overpowered the policemen escorting him. He then changed his clothes and put on a turban to change his appearance. He also managed to get hold of a motorcycle and rode away from the scene.

The IG said that the police have launched a massive manhunt to apprehend Singh and have formed special teams to track him down. He also appealed to the public to come forward with any information that may lead to his capture.

The escape of Amritpal Singh has caused a major embarrassment for the police department, and questions are being raised about the security arrangements and protocols followed during the escort of high-profile prisoners. This incident comes just a few months after the sensational jailbreak at the Nabha jail in which six prisoners, including two terrorists, had escaped.

The Punjab government has ordered an inquiry into the incident, and strict action is likely to be taken against those found guilty of negligence or dereliction of duty. The police have also increased their vigilance and security measures to prevent any further incidents.

In conclusion, the escape of Amritpal Singh has once again highlighted the need for robust security arrangements and protocols during the escort of high-profile prisoners. It is imperative that the authorities take urgent steps to address the shortcomings and ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.
