Punjab’s Progressive Leap: A Budget of Over 2 Lakh Crores

The Punjab government has taken a significant step forward with a budget exceeding 2 lakh crores. The total budget expenditure stands at a staggering ₹72,04,918 crore, reflecting the government’s commitment to the state’s development. This budget allocation is a testament to the government’s dedication to fostering growth and prosperity in various sectors.

The budget allocation for the agriculture and allied sectors is ₹13,784 crore, demonstrating the government’s focus on strengthening the backbone of the state’s economy. The education sector has been allocated ₹16,987 crore, approximately 11.5% of the total expenditure, underlining the importance of education in the state’s development. The healthcare services have been provisioned with €5,264 crore, ensuring the well-being of the state’s residents.

The budget also highlights the government’s commitment to nurturing world-class sports talent from Punjab, with ₹7,272 crore allocated to sports and youth services. The industrial sector has been given a significant boost with ₹73,367 crore, including subsidized power. The allocation of ₹19,388 crore for social welfare schemes and ₹13,844 crore for the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) underscores the government’s commitment to social justice and inclusive growth.
