In a shocking and horrific case that has emerged from a private hospital in Gurugram, a 46-year-old air hostess has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by hospital staff while unconscious and on a ventilator in the intensive care unit (ICU). Authorities have confirmed that a criminal investigation is underway, and CCTV footage is being closely examined to identify those responsible.
As per the police officials, the woman had been admitted to the hospital on April 5 after falling ill following a swim at a hotel pool. Her condition deteriorated rapidly, requiring intensive care support, including ventilation.
In her formal complaint, the woman stated that she was assaulted on April 6 while still on the ventilator. She was discharged from the facility on Sunday and later informed her husband about the alleged assault. The couple then approached the police.
CCTV Footage Under Scrutiny, Arrests Expected
An FIR was filed on Monday at the Sadar police station against unidentified members of the hospital’s staff. Police is currently reviewing surveillance footage from the ICU and surrounding areas to pinpoint the perpetrator(s).
The case has sparked outrage, raising serious concerns about patient safety and staff accountability in private medical institutions. The disturbing incident comes amid other recent reports of sexual assault cases involving vulnerable individuals, including children.
