Balkaur Singh, the father of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has recently praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his government’s efforts in cracking down on gangsters and criminals in the state. In a statement, Singh said that had Yogi been in Punjab, his son’s murder wouldn’t have taken place.
Singh went on to commend the Yogi government for their successful campaign against gangsters in the state, stating that Uttar Pradesh will progress better than Punjab due to their efforts. He also blamed the Punjab government for his son’s death, stating that they were asleep at the wheel.
Sidhu Moosewala, a popular Punjabi singer and songwriter, was shot dead in May 2021, in what was believed to be a gang-related incident. His death had caused widespread shock and grief among his fans and the Punjabi music industry.
Singh’s praise for Yogi Adityanath and his government’s efforts comes as a surprise, especially since the Moosewala family had previously criticized the police investigation into their son’s murder.
However, Singh’s statement has sparked a debate on the state of law and order in Punjab, with many questioning the effectiveness of the current government in dealing with crime and gang violence. The upcoming 2022 Punjab Assembly elections are likely to be influenced by this debate, with many speculating that Yogi Adityanath’s campaign against crime may have a significant impact on the state’s political landscape.
