A pall of gloom has descended over Bharowal village in Tarn Taran district following the tragic death of a young resident, Subhakarman Singh, in a road accident in New Zealand.
Speaking to the media, the bereaved father, former Sarpanch Amrik Singh Raju, revealed that Subhakarman, aged around 34, was married and a father to a young child. He shared that Subhakarman was traveling a short distance from his home when the fatal accident occurred.
“Our world has been shattered,” said an emotional Amrik Singh. “We are preparing to travel to New Zealand to perform his last rites.”
The sudden tragedy has left the entire village community deeply shocked, with residents gathering at the family’s home to offer condolences and support in this time of immense grief.
Subhakarman’s death has once again highlighted the growing concerns over the safety and wellbeing of Punjabi youth living abroad, many of whom leave home in search of better opportunities but face unforeseen challenges.
Arrangements are being made for the family to travel to New Zealand, where the final rites will be conducted in accordance with Sikh traditions.
