The melodious world of Punjabi music has a new name that’s taking the industry by storm: Barbie Maan. Born as Jasmeet Kaur Maan in Firozpur, Punjab, in 1997, she’s a symbol of resilience and raw talent. Her journey in life has been marked by numerous challenges, one of the most significant being the untimely demise of her father when she was just in 9th grade. But instead of letting the grief take over her, she channeled her emotions into her passion – music.
Maan started her formal training under the expert guidance of Preet Hundal. The decision to enter the professional world of music came after her debut song “Meriyan Saheliyan” in 2018.
Not only was the song well-received by audiences, but it also managed to garner a whopping 8 million views on Youtube, marking the start of her ascent in the Punjabi music scene.
Guru Randhawa, one of the top names in Punjabi music, recognized Maan’s talent and collaborated with her for the song “Taare”. Maan’s collaborations didn’t just stop here. She went on to work with Kamal Khaira on “Pichla Record” and Preet Hundal on “Akhiyan”.
However, 2020 proved to be a pivotal year for her. She released the song ‘Ajj Kal Ve’, penned by Sidhu Moosewala, which received widespread appreciation. Another significant track that year was “Teri Gali”, which not only featured Asim Riaz but was also written by Guru Randhawa.
Within a month of its release, the song had been viewed over 29 million times on YouTube, further solidifying her position in the industry.
Her subsequent tracks, including “Liv In” with Prem Dhillon, “Cute Jeha” featuring Dilpreet Dhillon, and “Jaan” featuring Shree Brar, have all been testimony to her evolving artistry and the love she continues to receive from fans across the world.
What makes Barbie Maan stand out, apart from her beautiful voice, is her captivating smile and her ability to resonate with her audience through her music. As the Punjabi music industry continues to grow, there’s no doubt that Barbie Maan will continue to shine brighter with each passing day.
